Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V: Networking and Remote Administration
Overview/Description
Virtual Machines (VMs) in a Hyper-V system connect to a virtual network, which can then allow access to external network resources. Internal, external and private are the three main types of virtual network. Hyper-V also supports VLAN tagging for isolation of network trunk traffic. This course describes virtual networking and reviews the various virtual network types. Virtual switch operations are also covered. A number of options exist for remotely configuring a Hyper-V server. Smaller installations will be fine with the simplicity of Hyper-V manager, and it can be installed on a different server or client machine as part of the Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT). For larger scale implementations System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) is a better fit. This course reviews the options for remotely configuring and managing a Hyper-V server. Remote administration and management using SCVMM including security considerations are also discussed.
Target Audience
The Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2: Server Virtualization with Hyper-V learning path is developed for system administrators who want to learn how to implement and manage Microsoftâs server virtualization technologies on their network. Individuals researching, implementing, or are currently responsible for virtualization. Anyone wishing to obtain the 70-659 TS: Windows Server 2008 R2, Server Virtualization exam which is one of the qualifying exams for the MCTS: Windows Server 2008 R2 Server Virtualization Configuration certification. Individuals with familiarity with; Windows networking, especially Active Directory Services, modern storage technologies such as SAN, iSCSI, Fiber Channel, and Direct Attached Storage (DAS), and with Windows Server 2008 failover clustering.
